Where will this be held?

This hackathon will be fully virtual.

Discord will be used to let you talk to other participants, and send you announcements.

For workshops, and other sub-events, we're planning on using Hopin; however, as we approach the hackathon, this may be subject to change.

What's the theme?

At 7PM EDT on June 25, we'll reveal the theme. Don't worry about not having ideas; it will be a theme that you're sure to know things about.

Who is eligible to attend?

Although we do appreciate enthusiasm and participation, applications are only open to current high school students who are at least 13 years old and attend a school in the Greater Toronto Area.

Are hackathons difficult?

It depends on how much effort you want to put into it. Some people go to hackathons and try their hardest to win it all, while others go to hackathons to learn new things, make new friends, and form connections with other people. The hackathon experience is what you make of it.

What are workshops?

Workshops are mini-lessons that introduce one to a concept or topic. Here at Recess Hacks we are planning to host several workshops such as Git and Github, Networking, Web Development, etc.

How can I make a team? What if I don't have one?

If you have people you want to work with, you can add them to your team on the Devpost. If you do not have anyone to work with yet, you can go to the "looking for team" section on the Devpost and meet others. Similarly, you may also introduce yourself in the discord, and chat with others. If you find someone you want to work with, just make sure to add them to your team on Devpost.

Is there anyone I can talk to if I'm having trouble with my project or the hackathon?

We'll be providing help during the hackathon in the Discord! You may ask a mentor or fellow peers. Drop in and ask questions.
